Serpentine Gallery announce architect for 2010 Pavilion

The Serpentine Gallery has announced that the world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel has been commissioned to design the 10th annual Serpentine Gallery Pavilion.

The Pavilion which runs from between 5 July – 20 October 2010 in London’s Hyde Park is one of the most popular attractions in the capital drawing in up to 250,000 visitors over the summer months

The design for the 2010 Pavilion is a contrast of lightweight materials and dramatic metal cantilevered structures. The entire design is rendered in a vivid red that, in a play of opposites, contrasts with the green of its park setting. In London the colour reflects the iconic British images of traditional telephone boxes, post boxes and London buses.
